But in quick order the Greeks set off in their own direction, looking for the perfect set of proportions to represent the perfect human body and the perfect temple. The Greek victories over the Persians in the 5th century BC infused the Greeks with a new belief in the superiority of their way of life. And this was reflected in their art.
